EMDR

"Give Light, and the darkness will disappear of itself"
Desiderius Erasmus

Have you tried traditional therapies that haven't helped and are exploring other
options?

Do you want to get unstuck, move forward and prevent negative symptoms to affect your present life?

There is Hope!! EMDR could be just what you need.

What is EMDR?

EMDR stands for "Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing." EMDR is a scientific and research based  psychotherapy originally developed by Dr. Francine Shapiro to help people heal from trauma.

EMDR helps to reduce the negative impact of past experiences that continue to intrude on your present life. Just as your body heals from physical injuries, the brain has a natural ability to heal traumatic and disturbing memories. This in turn helps you cope, make sense, heal and adapt to stressful experiences.

How does EMDR work?

EMDR is similar to what happens during REM, or dream sleep, where the brain processes unconscious material.

The eye movements (Client follows therapist's fingers back and forth) used in EMDR seem to unlock the nervous system and allow the brain to digest and process the traumatic experience.
EMDR seems to stimulate the brain to unlock, and transform stuck memories by desensitizing the images and feelings associated with trauma.

As a result, many disturbing emotions such as anxiety, depression, panic, grief, Post traumatic stress (PTSD) could be alleviated. Unlike hypnosis, where the patient is asleep, eye movements in EMDR are conducted while the client is awake and the client has control over the entire process.

EMDR  has also been clinically reported to be an effective option in treating drug and alcohol addictions.  Teens and young adults learn adaptive coping skills including healthy ways to handle stress and triggers and how to resist urges without resorting to drugs and alcohol.

I have witnessed my clients heal and make positive transformations. I trust that EMDR could work for you too. You could also heal and move forward with your life. What matters most is that you start living and enjoying your life again.
