The Negative Cycle

The Common Couple Negative Cycle

1) During times of stress or when you're hurting, you reach out to your loved one for support. So when your partner is unresponsive, you may end up feeling alone and disconnected.

2) A vicious cycle of negative interactions is created, in which you and your partner become caught up in blaming, criticizing, and defending yourselves. This in turn leaves both of you feeling hurt, helpless and alone.

3) The more you resort to these negative interactions, the more you push each other away. Over time, these negative interactions become automatic and the relationship may begin to dissolve.

There is a way out! Like so many couples I have treated, you and your partner can salvage your relationship by learning ways to replace the negative cycle and transform it into a more positive
enduring relationship. I will train you to become accessible, responsive, and emotionally engaged with each other.
